Flood

Flood penetrating wood finishes and paint additives for exterior decks, fences, siding, and smoother paint jobs. Flood was founded by the Flood family of painters in the 1800s and is now a PPG wood-care brand known for CWF finishes and Penetrol / Floetrol additives. This brand collection covers Flood products currently in the store.

Per PPG Flood product data, CWF-UV is a penetrating acrylic-oil exterior wood finish fortified with Penetrol, with water-repellent and mildew-resistant performance for decks, fences, siding, and outdoor furniture. CWF-OIL is a penetrating oil wood finish also fortified with Penetrol. Floetrol improves flow and leveling of latex paints and stains; Penetrol does the same for oil-based coatings and helps adhesion on weathered surfaces; E-B Emulsa Bond is a latex bonding additive that improves adhesion on chalky wood, masonry, or aluminum.

FAQ

What is Flood CWF-UV?

Flood CWF-UV is a penetrating exterior wood finish with an acrylic-oil resin, fortified with Penetrol. Maker materials highlight water-repellent performance, a mildew-resistant coating package, and UV protection for decks, fences, siding, and outdoor furniture.

Floetrol or Penetrol?

Use Floetrol with latex (water-based) paints and stains to improve flow and reduce brush marks. Use Penetrol with oil-based coatings for better flow, penetration, and adhesion on weathered surfaces.

What does Emulsa Bond do?

E-B Emulsa Bond is a latex-based additive that improves adhesion of exterior water-based coatings to chalky wood, masonry, or aluminum and can help the first coat bond without a separate primer in some maker use cases. Follow the label mix ratio.

Is CWF a solid stain?

No. CWF-UV and CWF-OIL are penetrating finishes meant to protect while keeping a more natural wood look (clear to lightly tinted), not a solid hide stain.
