ProLuxe (PPG Architectural Finishes, formerly Sikkens/Cetol) makes premium exterior wood stains and interior lacquer sealers known for high-clarity transoxide pigments and UV absorbers. This brand collection covers the ProLuxe products currently ACTIVE in the Project Weekend DIY store: Interior Lacquer Sanding Sealer (quart and spray), Premium Deck Wood Finish, Door & Window Wood Finish, and SRD / SRD RE exterior wood finishes.

Per PPG/ProLuxe product literature and our live SKUs: Clear Sanding Sealer is the former Deft formula—self-leveling nitrocellulose lacquer that seals stained or bare interior wood, dry to touch in about 30 minutes (quart) and ready to sand in about 1 hour, designed to precede ProLuxe Clear Wood Finish Lacquer (not varnish or water-based clears). Premium Deck is a high-solids alkyd-oil, two-coat translucent satin finish for horizontal decks and railings with VOC under 350. Door & Window is a high-solids alkyd-oil three-coat system positioned as a more resilient alternative to exterior varnishes and polyurethanes. SRD is a one-coat transparent matte penetrating finish for decks, siding, rails, and trim; SRD RE is the reduced-emissions version with VOC under 275.

FAQ

Is ProLuxe the same as Sikkens Cetol?

Yes. PPG acquired the Sikkens North American wood-finish line and sells it as ProLuxe. Cetol SRD, Premium Deck (DEK), and Door & Window continue under the ProLuxe name.

What is the sanding sealer for?

Maker materials position Clear Sanding Sealer as the base coat before ProLuxe Clear Wood Finish Lacquer on interior stained or bare wood. Do not topcoat it with varnish or water-based clears.

SRD vs Premium Deck—which for a deck?

SRD/SRD RE is a one-coat transparent matte penetrating finish for decks, siding, and rails. Premium Deck is a two-coat film-building translucent satin finish made for horizontal deck surfaces.

How many coats for Door & Window?

PPG lists Door & Window as a three-coat high-solids alkyd-oil system for exterior doors and windows, with VOC under 350 on our Colorless Satin quart.

What does RE mean on SRD RE?

RE is ProLuxe's reduced-emissions version. Our Natural SRD RE gallon lists VOC under 275; the standard Natural Oak SRD gallon lists VOC under 550.
