ZAR
ZAR (United Gilsonite Laboratories) makes interior oil-base wiping stains and clear polyurethane topcoats for furniture, cabinets, floors, and exterior woodwork. This brand collection covers the ZAR products currently ACTIVE in the Project Weekend DIY store: Interior Oil Base Stain color lineup plus Interior OMU Poly, Interior Oil-Based Poly, Exterior Water-Based Poly HP, and Exterior Oil-Based Ultraviolet Poly.
Per ZAR / UGL product literature on our live listings: Interior Oil Base Stain is a translucent oil-based wiping stain with controlled penetration for even color; maker directions list lint-free cloth, foam, or natural-bristle brush, with optional second coat when dry, and mineral-spirits cleanup. Interior OMU Poly is a water-based oil-modified urethane with a natural amber tone, self-leveling film, soap-and-water cleanup, about 400–500 sq ft per gallon, recoat in about 2 hours, and child-safe when dry. Interior Oil-Based Poly is a clear self-leveling oil polyurethane for floors, cabinets, furniture, and woodwork (about 500–600 sq ft per gallon; mineral spirits cleanup). Exterior Water-Based Poly HP is a non-yellowing clear with UV protection for doors, patio furniture, and above-waterline marine woodwork (not for decks or foot traffic). Exterior Oil-Based Ultraviolet Poly adds UV absorbers and antioxidants for exterior woodwork and doors (at least 3 coats; not for decks).

FAQ
Is ZAR the same as UGL?
ZAR is UGL's wood-finish brand. Our store lists most ZAR SKUs under vendor ZAR; a separate UGL collection covers products still tagged vendor UGL.
What topcoat goes over Interior Oil Base Stain?
Maker directions on our stain listings point to compatible ZAR Water Base or Oil Base Poly for protection after the stain is dry. Follow the topcoat label for recoat and cure.
OMU vs oil-based poly—what's the difference?
OMU is a water-based oil-modified urethane (soap-and-water cleanup, amber tone). Interior Oil-Based Poly is a traditional oil polyurethane cleaned with mineral spirits.
Can Exterior Poly HP go on a deck?
No. Maker use limits on our Exterior Water-Based Poly HP and Exterior Oil-Based UV Poly listings exclude decks and other foot-traffic areas.
How do I apply Interior Oil Base Stain?
Literature lists lint-free cloth, foam applicator, or natural-bristle brush. Stir during use, wipe excess with the grain, and test color on a scrap first.
