Titebond II Premium Wood Glue, 4 oz bottle
A 4 oz squeeze bottle (Titebond part 5002, UPC 037083050028) is the size that lives on the bench for birdhouse kits, a mailbox repair, a planter box or a picnic-table joint. Titebond says Titebond II Premium was the first one-part, readily available wood glue to pass the ANSI Type II water-resistance test, and positions it for exterior woodworking such as outdoor furniture. It grabs quickly with strong initial tack, sands cleanly, doesn't react with finishes and is FDA approved for indirect food contact.

Clamping pressure guide
Titebond says to clamp just firmly enough to pull the joint tight: generally 100 to 150 psi for softwoods, 125 to 175 psi for medium-density woods and 175 to 250 psi for hardwoods. Wipe squeeze-out with a damp cloth while it is wet; once cured, scrape and sand it off.
Where not to use it
- Structural or load-bearing assemblies.
- Anything submerged continuously or below the waterline.
- Oily exotics such as ipe or teak without first calling Titebond's technical team at 1-800-347-4583.
- Treated lumber without an adhesion test.
- Next to metal where rust matters: the low pH can corrode it.
The product page caution lists eye and skin irritation and aluminum chloride content; don't swallow it, and keep it from children. The SDS (5002, rev 2/16/2026) carries no signal word. Bigger bottle or full waterproofing: Titebond III Ultimate gallon. Indoor-only work: Titebond Original quart.
Questions
Is Titebond II waterproof? It is water-resistant, not waterproof. Titebond says it meets the ANSI Type II water-resistance specification and is not for continuous submersion or use below the waterline. For a waterproof bond, Titebond makes Titebond III.
Can I use it on a cutting board? Yes. Titebond says Titebond II Premium is U.S. FDA approved for indirect food contact, and it lists cutting boards as an example.
How long do I have to assemble a joint? At 70 F and 50% relative humidity, Titebond lists an open assembly time of 3 to 5 minutes and a total assembly time of 10 to 15 minutes. Glue, air and wood must all be above 55 F.
