How much do I need?
At about 62-70 sq ft per quart per coat, one quart covers roughly 31-35 sq ft with 2 coats, or about 21-23 sq ft with 3. That suits a dresser, a console table, a door or several picture frames and accents. For an accent wall, plan on several quarts.
How to apply
- Clean the surface of dust, dirt, oil and grease and remove loose or chalking paint. Prime with Modern Masters Metallic Primer (Warm Tone or Cool Tone) or another primer from its compatible list, and let it dry, preferably overnight.
- Mix thoroughly and test on a sample board first.
- Brush with a quality brush for water-based paint, or roll large areas with a quality synthetic 3/8 in. nap roller. Work in about 4 ft sections, rolling straight up and down, and back-roll in one direction, ceiling to floor.
- To spray, thin with up to 16 fl oz of water per gallon and use an HVLP or conventional cup gun at about 45 psi at the gun. Do not use turbine units or airless sprayers.
Good to know
Use low-tack tape over fresh metallic paint and consider cutting along the tape edge with a razor blade. Do not freeze; store tightly closed out of direct sun. Read the Matte Metallic Paint technical data sheet.
