DAP Alex Fast Dry Acrylic Latex Caulk Plus Silicone 5.5 oz

DAP Alex Fast Dry Acrylic Latex Caulk Plus Silicone is a painter's caulk made for fast paint jobs. You can brush or roll paint over it 20 minutes after you caulk, or spray paint it right away. This 5.5 oz white squeeze tube needs no caulk gun, so it is an easy fit for gaps along baseboards, trim, molding, door and window frames and corner joints before you paint a room.

How to apply

1. The surface must be clean, dry, sound and free of old caulk and dirt.
2. Remove the cap and cut the nozzle at 45 degrees to the bead size you need.
3. Fill the gap and tool the bead within about 5 minutes, before it skins over.
4. Wipe excess wet caulk with a damp sponge. Dried caulk has to be cut or scraped away.
5. Wait 20 minutes for a skin to form, then brush or roll paint. Allow more time in cool or humid rooms.

Good to know

• Not for butt joints, expansion joints, tuck-pointing, filling surface defects or continuous underwater use.
• Not recommended on copper. Does not bond well to slick plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, acrylic or PTFE; test first.
• Outdoors, do not apply when rain or freezing temperatures are forecast within 24 hours.

Questions

How soon can I paint over it?

DAP says 20 minutes with a brush or roller, or right away with spray latex paint. Cool temperatures and high humidity slow it down.
