DAP DryDex Spackling has a dry time color indicator: it goes on pink and turns white when the patch is dry and ready to sand or paint. Use it to fill nail holes, cracks, dents and defects in drywall, plaster, wood, brick and stone, inside or out. The ready-to-use paste spreads easily, will not shrink, crack, crumble or flake, dries hard, sands easily and needs no primer. This is the half-pint tub (DAP UPC 7079812328).

How to use it
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of loose material.
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply with a clean putty knife. One application usually fills a small repair; for repairs deeper than 1/8 in, apply thin layers and let each dry fully.
- For a smoother patch, dip the putty knife in water and lightly smooth the spackling.
- When it turns white, sand (DAP recommends wet sanding to avoid dust) and paint. Outdoors, always topcoat with a good exterior paint.
- Clean tools right away with water, and keep the lid tightly closed so the color indicator keeps working.
FAQ
How long does DryDex take to dry?
DAP lists 1 to 5 hours. Deep fills, cool air and high humidity take longer; wait until the pink has turned fully white.
What should I not use it for?
DAP says not to use it on floors, as a skim coat, for tuck pointing brick, or as a caulk over cracks and joints that expand and contract. For large patches on bare concrete, use a latex-fortified Portland cement mix.
