How much do I need?
One quart covers about 60-90 sq ft per coat.
How to apply
- Sand bare wood with 180-220 grit and remove all dust. If staining, apply the stain first and let it dry thoroughly.
- Stir well (do not shake). Apply full strength with the grain in a smooth, uniform coat. Do not over-brush.
- When dry, sand lightly with 220-280 grit until a powder forms, without cutting through. Remove the dust.
- Apply your topcoat. Clean tools with soap and water.
Good to know
Not recommended for linoleum, vinyl, glazed tile or metal. Do not apply in direct sunlight, and test over white or pastel paints, as discoloration may occur. Do not use steel wool. Removing old paint can release toxic lead dust; see the data sheet for lead-safe practices. Read the Varathane Sanding Sealer technical data sheet.
