How much do I need?
At 208-320 sq ft per gallon per coat, one gallon covers about 104-160 sq ft with 2 coats, or about 69-107 sq ft with 3 coats. An 8 x 10 ft accent wall (80 sq ft) takes about one gallon at 2 to 3 coats, depending on the surface and the color's hide.
How to apply
- Clean the surface of dust, dirt, oil and grease and remove loose or chalking paint. Prime with Modern Masters Metallic Primer (Warm Tone or Cool Tone) or another primer from its compatible list, and let it dry, preferably overnight.
- Mix thoroughly. Test on a sample board first to check color and technique.
- Brush with a quality brush for water-based paint. To roll a wall, add up to 16 fl oz of Metallic Paint Extender per gallon, use the Metallic Paint Roller, cut in with a 4 in. 1/2 in. nap roller, work in about 4 ft sections with a wet edge, and back-roll in one direction, ceiling to floor.
- To spray, thin with up to 16 fl oz of water per gallon and use an HVLP or conventional cup gun at about 45 psi at the gun. Do not use turbine units or airless sprayers.
Good to know
Exterior use requires Modern Masters MasterClear UV Protective Clear Topcoat, which also adds scuff resistance and washability indoors. Use low-tack tape over fresh metallic paint. Do not freeze; store tightly closed out of direct sun. Read the Satin Metallic Paint technical data sheet.
