General Finishes Enduro Clear Poly Dead Flat Gallon
Enduro Clear Poly is General Finishes' professional-grade water-based topcoat, a self-crosslinking 1K acrylic and urethane blend that dries clear and builds a tough, abrasion-resistant film on interior cabinets, trim, doors and furniture. The Dead Flat sheen (under 5 on the gloss scale) gives a near-raw-wood look without the traditional flattening compounds that can cloud a finish. This is the 1 gallon can.
Highlights
- Professional water-based poly, low odor, soap and water hand cleanup
- Dead Flat sheen, under 5 on the gloss scale
- Use over raw wood, fully dry stain, and non-white painted surfaces
- Can be used without a sealer; 1 to 2 coats of GF Sanding Sealer add faster build
- Short-filled about 10% to leave room for zero-VOC tint colorant
- Meets SCAQMD, CARB, Canada and OTC Phase I and II VOC rules

How to apply
- Prep raw wood by sanding no finer than 220 grit and removing dust. For an existing finish, clean with a 50:50 mix of denatured alcohol and water on a maroon non-woven pad, let dry 1 to 2 hours, then scuff with a 220 to 320 grit foam pad.
- Stir thoroughly before and during use. Strain before spraying and lay down wet coats of 3 to 5 mils.
- Enduro is engineered for spraying. Cabinet face frames, edges and drawer fronts can be rolled with a small 3/8 in nap microfiber roller; adding 10% to 20% GF Extender helps leveling.
- Sand lightly between coats with a 220 to 320 grit foam pad and remove dust. Over oil-based stain, let the stain dry at least 72 hours first.
Good to know
Do not use any clear coat, including this one, over white or light paints such as GF Milk Paint whites, because it can yellow. Use Enduro White Poly for white finishes. Store above 50 F and below 80 F, out of direct sun; best used within one year of the date on the can. Read the technical data sheet and safety data sheet before use.
Questions
Can I brush it? General Finishes designs Enduro for spray. For small areas use a short-nap microfiber roller with Extender. For an all-brush project, High Performance Topcoat is the brushable choice.
Does it need a sealer? No. It can go straight onto raw wood; a first coat of GF Sanding Sealer just builds faster.
How long before I can use the cabinets? Handle gently after drying and allow 21 days to cure fully before heavy use or cleaning with commercial products.
