How much do I need?
At 1/8 inch thick, one gallon covers about 13 sq ft; most nail-hole and crack repairs use far less. Coverage depends on the depth and size of what you fill.
How to apply
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry and sound. Wash off dirt and grime, rinse and let dry. Sand or scrape away poorly adhering coatings.
- Use a 1 inch putty knife for nail holes and cracks or a 2 inch knife for larger gouges. Spread over the hole and remove the excess until smooth and flush.
- For holes wider and deeper than 1/4 inch, apply two or more coats. Prime or paint when dry to the touch, or let it dry fully before sanding smooth.
- Spot-prime patched areas, then prime the whole surface before painting. Clean tools with soap and water.
Good to know
Ready Patch cures very hard and may be harder to sand after drying overnight. Fill very deep holes with an epoxy wood filler or cement patch, and use caulk where caulk belongs. Removing old paint can release toxic lead dust; see the data sheet for lead-safe practices. Read the Ready Patch technical data sheet.
