How much do I need?
One gallon covers about 300-400 sq ft per coat.
How to apply
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry and sound. Remove as much of the stain as you can, kill mold and mildew, and sand peeling edges smooth.
- Mix well. If thinning, add no more than 10 oz of water per gallon. One coat primes most surfaces.
- Apply with a brush, roller or airless sprayer. Allow 2 hours over knots and stains.
- Topcoat after 1 hour with a high-hiding paint. Clean up with warm soap and water.
Good to know
Some water stain may show in the primer as it dries; Rust-Oleum notes it is locked in and will not bleed into the topcoat. Not for full exterior use, very humid interiors or surfaces in contact with water. Tint with up to 2 oz universal colorant per gallon. Removing old paint can release toxic lead dust; see the data sheet for lead-safe practices. Read the B-I-N Water Base technical data sheet.
