Per Sunnyside product literature and technical data: Paint Thinner contains only mineral spirits and is intended to thin oil-based paints, stains, and varnishes and to clean brushes, rollers, and spray equipment—not to strip cured paint from cabinets or other surfaces. Mineral spirits and low-odor or low-VOC mineral spirits thin most oil-based coatings and clean tools; they are not for latex or other water-based coatings, lacquer, or shellac. Add thinner gradually and stir thoroughly, and do not exceed the coating manufacturer's recommended amount. Always read Sunnyside label warnings (combustible Class II solvents; ventilate; dispose of oily rags to avoid spontaneous combustion).

FAQ

Is Sunnyside Paint Thinner the same as mineral spirits?

Yes. Sunnyside states its Paint Thinner contains only mineral spirits. Low-odor and low-VOC mineral spirits SKUs are separate listings when you want those attributes.

Can I use Paint Thinner or mineral spirits with latex paint?

No. Sunnyside directs these solvents for oil-based coatings only—not latex or other water-based coatings, lacquer, or shellac. Use water for latex cleanup.

Will Paint Thinner remove paint from cabinets?

No. Sunnyside says Paint Thinner thins liquid paint but is not a paint remover. Use a dedicated remover such as the 2 Minute Advanced Paint & Varnish Remover in this collection when stripping is the goal.

What is M-1 Waste Paint Hardener for?

It hardens leftover liquid paint so it can be disposed of as solid waste per local rules. It is not a thinner or a paint remover.
