How to apply
Start with the manufacturer's preparation steps: Clean and dry; remove dirt, wax, grease, glue and other contaminants; Sand new wood from medium to fine grit with grain; remove dust; Sand previously finished surfaces with 220 grit to remove gloss and imperfections; Allow oil-based stain at least 48 hours drying before topcoating; Do not use steel wool or tack rag.
- Prepare surface and remove sanding dust
- Stir thoroughly; do not shake; test adhesion
- Apply full even coats with grain at 3 to 5 wet mils
- Wait 1 to 2 hours; lightly sand with 220 grit and remove dust
- Reapply for three coats total
Good to know
Use limits: Over shellac, lacquer, or fillers, stains, or sealers containing stearates; Over sanding sealer on floors.
